Achieving your goals, recognising milestones and looking after your mental health.
It's time for some real talk + a little life update š
Hey, Creatives!
Hope you are doing well!
Iāve had a crazy busy few weeks juggling multiple new clients and moving house š”
I had to take a step back from creating as much content and push some projects back in order to ensure I didnāt burn myself out.
Itās not always the easiest thing to do, especially when you have ambitious goals but so important to do when it comes to your mental health.
I am super excited to start some new projects soon.
One of the things I am most excited to continue working on is creating YouTube videos for you guys.
I really enjoy having the opportunity to go into more depth about different topics and would love to start sharing some more content about what itās like to run a business.
Let me know what kind of videos you would like me to create.
Iād love it if you could share this newsletter with your creative friends so they can get the inside scoop on the creative industries.
Did you know Iāve started a YouTube channel? š¤©
Starting a YouTube channel has been a goal of mine for YEARS
Iāve finally decided to take the step and start creating longer-form content and Iām loving it so far.
I definitely struggled with imposter syndrome for a long time when it came to creating talking-to-camera videos but starting with short-form content has helped me build my confidence on camera.
If youāre interested in going freelance or starting a business or just want to get more organised with your work Iāve currently shared 2 videos that I think you might like.
+ There will be more coming soon too š
Creative News - Whatās In & Whatās Outšļø
Weāre mixing up our weekly news updates by spilling the tea on whatās in and whatās out this week. Sometimes brands miss the mark and weāre going to share our favourite and least favourite campaigns of the week.
Whatās In: Branding and website design that does good š¤©
Lilongwe Wildlife Trust (LWT), Malawi's foremost conservation organisation, has unveiled a new identity and redeveloped website to highlight urgent environmental threats and the critical need to protect wildlife. The project was executed by Sixredsquares, a UK-based agency established 15 years ago by a group of graphic design students, which now counts Bloomberg Television, YMCA, and Sky Arts among its clients.
The revamped brand aims to engage a global audience and emphasise LWT's vital work. Owen Williams, managing director of Sixredsquares, highlighted the project's alignment with the agency's mission to use design as a force for global good. "We were immediately drawn to the passion behind LWT's mission. This is the kind of positive change we want to support, and our shared values fostered a strong connection from our first meeting," he said.
We love the full brand identity and use of bold colours. Check it out here
Whatās out: Figma pulls AI tool after criticism that it ripped off Appleās designš
Figma's new tool, Make Designs, allowed users to quickly mock up apps using generative AI. However, it has been pulled after producing designs that closely resembled Apple's iOS weather app. Figma CEO Dylan Field explained the removal in a thread on X early Tuesday morning, taking responsibility for pushing the team to meet a deadline and defending the company's approach to AI tool development.
In posts on X, Andy Allen, CEO of Not Boring Software, demonstrated how closely Figmaās Make Designs tool replicated Appleās weather app. "Just a heads up to any designers using the new Make Designs feature: you may want to thoroughly check existing apps or heavily modify the results to avoid unknowingly landing yourself in legal trouble," Allen wrote.
Itās good that Figma acknowledge this but itās an important reminder to creatives to always check their designs if they are using AI. It could save you a lot of hassle further down the line. Read more here
