These stats will shock you 😱+ Get your ticket to our 1st IRL Event!
Your spooky creative + business industry update, just in time for Halloween!
Hey, Creative!
The last few weeks have been full of travel so I’m excited to be back in my office working on Studio Self-Made’s big plans for the rest of 2024 today.
I’ve been lucky enough to be invited to speak at a few different events over the last few weeks so when I came across this stat, I was shocked 😱
81% of 11-18 year olds can’t name a female founder
Young people are also 4 times more likely to think of a man when they think about an entrepreneur than a woman.
One of the best ways to help more women consider entrepreneurship as a career path is by connecting them with female founders.
Especially those who are a few years into their business journey.
Making the idea of starting a business seem more attainable and something they can explore.
We can’t ignore the fact that there are still so many roadblocks that women and minority groups face when building businesses such as access to funding.
However, we can take the first step in inspiring the next generation.
Simply by showing that it is possible.
I’m working on a brand new programme for aspiring freelancers and entrepreneurs which I will be sharing more about very soon - so if you want to change this stat, make sure you keep an eye out for what’s coming soon 👀
Next Wednesday! We’re hosting our first IRL event 🤩 Don’t miss it!
Join us for Studio Self-Made's very first Creative Connections event, where the vibe is relaxed, the company is inspiring, and the opportunities are endless.

Creative News - What’s In & What’s Out🗞️
We’re mixing up our weekly news updates by spilling the tea on what’s in and what’s out this week. Sometimes brands miss the mark and we’re going to share our favourite and least favourite campaigns of the week.

What’s In: Gen Z, you’re on the menu in Channel 4’s brand new show
Channel 4’s 4Creative is cooking up something wickedly funny this Halloween with Generation Z, a twisted new horror series from Ben Wheatley where the classic zombie apocalypse gets a Gen Z twist—this time, it's Boomers who turn into zombies!
Set in the drab town of Dambury, elderly undead goes after the young, fueling a hilarious, gruesome intergenerational showdown. The "You're on the Menu" campaign has it all: a creepy-fun trailer with icons like Sue Johnston, quirky OOH posters featuring “zombified” Boomers on retro dinner plates, influencer scares, and social content that’ll make you laugh and scream.
We love this out-of-the-box idea by Channel 4, just in time for spooky season.
What’s out: Using Creative’s work to train AI without permission
SAG-AFTRA’s fight for AI protections rages on, keeping 160,000 voice actors and entertainment pros on strike. Talks with giants like Activision, Disney, EA, and WB Games resumed on October 23 but hit a wall, leading the union to keep up its push for fair treatment under the Interactive Media Agreement.
Despite setbacks, there’s progress with some studios: Ethovox agreed to protect performers in AI model training, while Lightspeed LA implemented safeguards for voice talent in games. Creatives are feeling AI’s impact across the board—just ask Transport for Ireland, now backpedalling after AI-generated Halloween ads stirred a public backlash.
We know that AI is here to stay but artistic talent needs to be protected in this process too.
I’d love it if you could share this newsletter with your creative friends so they can get the inside scoop on the creative industries.
