What should you do if you're looking for a creative job right now?
I could have never imagined that my career would look like this 3 years after graduating but it all started by doing this small action
Hey, Creatives!
If you’ve graduated from university, you know how rough those first few months can be (not to scare any current students out there)
That’s why I could have never imagined that 3 years later I would be celebrating 2 years of running Studio Self-Made this month! 🤯
It’s been 2 years of growing, failing, experimenting
And feeling the fear and doing it anyway.
When I came up with the idea for Studio Self-Made in 2022,
I didn’t know that I would be about to experience one of the hardest years of my life personally.
But out of that came new perspectives.
A reminder that your mindset is really is the most important asset you can invest in.
If you’re in the thick of the post-grad blues right now, know that you are not alone and it does get better!
If you don’t know where to start when it comes to finding a creative job, start sharing your thoughts and ideas about your industry on LinkedIn.
I can guarantee it will open new doors for you.

Creative News - What’s In & What’s Out🗞️

What’s In: Illustration with a human touch - why you should lean into your unique style?
How do you find your own unique style? It’s something that most artists and designers have contended in the artistic journey.
Interestingly, the more an artist tries to make their figures realistic, the more scrutiny the artwork receives, as people can easily tell when something is off. On the other hand, adopting a more expressive and exaggerated style opens up new possibilities. Art directors often seek illustrations that resonate emotionally and communicate effectively, rather than striving for perfect realism.
We love this collection of illustrators and how their individual styles show how you can approach illustration in your own unique way.
What’s Out: Letting the fear of trolls hold you back from sharing your work
Many of us may hesitate to admit it, even to ourselves, but in today's digital world, putting yourself and your work out there is essential for creative professionals.
No matter how talented you are, people won't discover your work unless you make it visible. Whether you're an illustrator sharing new pieces on Instagram, a designer displaying your portfolio on Behance, or a writer publishing insights on a blog, building visibility is crucial for success.
One of the biggest fears we face is worrying what other people will think about us when we put ourselves out there. As we near the end of 2024, we need to let go of our fears and start to consider the opportunities we might gain from sharing our work.
